Fascinating perspective! My conclusion of why this country is full of ugly shot is slightly different however. It's because we haven't inherited much of a "common aesthetic sense" to speak of. Most of what we think is ugly now is simply experimentation of a young country coming into itself. Rome has had thousands of years of this, we've only had 60.

I agree completely. You can see our lack of a common raison d'être, so to speak, everywhere from our politics to our aesthetics. I also agree with the post: we don't truly care about creating cleaner, more beautiful spaces. Just look at the plants along our sidewalks and highways, they either wither or are trampled because, in reality, we don't value such environments.

Interesting. I believe most youths should get into this experimentation phase. I feel good every time I see Kenyans participating in some niche activities and experiences.

Good observation. Most Kenyans are parochial in their worldview and rarely think of the collective. Also, think of this as a hive, and Kenya, as a hive, is full of bees working at cross purposes to rarely think of the collective
